EMUI 4.0 based on Android Marshmallow to be released in Q4 2015 by Huawei

Smartphones from Huawei run on Huawei’s take on Android, Emotion UI (EMUI). Most of Huawei’s smartphones are running on EMUI 2.3 or EMUI 3.0 which is based on Android Kitkat! The latest version of EMUI is 3.1 which is based on Android Lollipop and is still in beta stage for most of the phones. According to the recent announcement by Huawei India Facebook page, the stable Lollipop version will start rolling out in September 2015.

According to latest leaks Huawei is supposed to release EMUI 4.0 in Q4 2015. Meng Qin Hai, has now confirmed that Huawei is going to release EMUI 4.0 before the end of this year. There is no information available on whether EMUI will have a complete overhaul or only subtle changes in looks. With the time there should be more leaks about the UI and we’ll keep you updated about them. Considering Huawei’s reputation in updating their devices it might be hard for you to believe that there will be Android Marshmallow update before the end of this year. But Huawei is one of the manufacturer for this year’s Nexus device so faster updates might be a possibility.

In our communication with one of the Huawei employee we were informed that users of Huawei phones will not have to wait as long as they had to wait for Android Lollipop. And Android Marshmallow will be released much much earlier. No other information as to dates or changes in the UI were divulged.

  1. Most of the new themes being created these days are rubbish. The design is bland and flat. I dunno why every rival to apple are following Apple’s approach to design the themes and icons. The themes before were much better with 3D icons and high quality backdrops which looked premium. Ridiculous and pathetic designs these days!
