Motorola officially released the Moto G 2015 on 28th July. We already know what to expect from the phone as per past leaks and speculations.
The smartphone comes in two versions of 8GB and 16GB priced at INR 11,999 and INR 12,999 respectively. There is a difference in the RAM of the two versions as 8GB model comes with a modest 1GB RAM while 16GB is equipped with a decent 2GB RAM. It has an expandable storage capacity upto 32GB.
The main highlight of this year’s Moto G is that it’s waterproof and can survive water upto 1m for 30 minutes. The phone also comes with 4G LTE connectivity and dual sim support (GSM + LTE). The phone supports 4G bands available in India. The battery has been boosted to 2470 mAh from 2040 mAh of Moto G (2014).
Moto G (2015) comes with a 5 inch 720p display protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Processing power is provided by 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor with 1.4GHz Quad-core CPU and Adreno 306 with 400MHz GPU. The smartphone runs on the latest Android 5.1.1 out of the box. Connectivity options include Micro USB, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, WiFi and 3.5mm jack.
Moto G (2015) has a primary camera of 13MP with Dual LED flash for low light photography. The secondary camera is of 5MP. Moto G comes with a “twist wrist to launch camera” similar to Moto X. The video capture capabilities include slow motion video but there is no support for 4K recording.
The device is larger than Moto G (2014) measuring at 142.1mm x 72.4mm x 11.6mm and weighing slightly heavier at 155g. Customisation options are available through Motorola Shells and Motorola Flip Shells.
The phone is preloaded with Motorola’s applications such as Moto Assist which is helpful in automating the phone’s usage. The Moto G also comes with Moto Display which lets you see notifications at a glance, play and pause music without unlocking the device, nudge the phone to see what’s new.
