Jump the Queue and Get Windows 10

Windows 10 was launched on 29th July and Microsoft is providing updates in waves to prevent server overload. When the update is ready for you Windows Update will prompt you to install it. But if you don’t want to wait we know how you can jump the queue and get Windows 10 now.

The update is only available for qualified Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 devices. *

  1. Delete existing updates from Windows update folder
Go to “C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution” and delete all the folders inside the SoftwareDistribution folder. This will only delete past update filed from your computer and would not harm it in anyway.
  2. Open Windows Update
Open Windows Update, you can do it easily by typing “Windows Update” in the search bar of Start Menu. You can also open Windows Update through Control Panel by accessing the System and Security option.Do not check for Windows Update Now.
  3. Open Command Prompt as Administrator
Type “cmd” in search bar of start menu. Right click on cmd and then “Run as administrator”.
  4. Type command in Command Prompt
Type the following command but DO NOT press enter.
    “wuauclt.exe /updatenow”
  5. Check for updates
Now go back to Windows Update and click on “Check for updates”. Once Windows update starts checking for updates switch to Command Prompt and press enter. Windows 10 update should start. If the update fails and Windows is still checking for updates, re-type the command in Command Prompt and press enter to start Windows 10 update.
